The current objectives for Rye will remain valid through the LDF’s timescale and should be carried forward.

We consider that tourism will remain the principle economic activity and that more light industry at Rye Harbour and increased home working will provide the necessary concomitant drivers towards economic growth and prosperity.

The document refers to work undertaken for the Inquiry as supporting the need for further shopping floorspace in Rye. This finding and the procedure involved were criticised by the Inspector for lack of public consultation. It is essential that Rye keeps and expands its range of specialist shops.
