Development and Site Allocations (DaSA) Local Plan - Options and Preferred Options

Representation ID: 22749

Respondent: Mr & Mrs Ann & Mike Davey

Number of people: 2

Representation Summary:

We wish to object to this site:-
1.This site would ever have been considered had the Government not imposed housing numbers. Too high density.
2.35 houses (2 vehicles per property), 70 vehicles accessing the already busy B2204.
3.Catsfield already has huge congestion most of the day
4.Building will increase flood risk
5.A village green here is ludicrous. There is an excellent Playing Field which is well used.
6.Consideration should be given to numbers planned for North Bexhill/Ninfield-will result in roads in the immediate vicinity being hugely congested.
7.The plan does not address the already full school/need for increased medical facilities.

We wish to object to the proposal for 35 dwellings and village green in the Catsfield part of the Plan for the following reasons:-
1. we do not believe this piece of land would ever have been considered for development had the Government not imposed a required number of houses upon Rother District Council. The density is far too high for the parcel of land
2. 35 houses, averages 2 vehicles per property, that means 70 vehicles accessing the already busy B2204, which causes village residents to suffer restricted quality of life
3. Broomham Lane, village shops and pub, Skinners Lane and the over-parked Church Road already cause huge congestion during most parts of the day
4. this land is extremely wet and building on it will cause the flooding of Broomham Lane and adjacent fields to get worse
5. the idea that Catsfield needs a village green is a ludicrous planning advantage to this proposal. We have an excellent Playing Field with a footpath running through it and Broomham Lane, which is well used by residents and visitors. It is impossible to imagine that people can enjoy a village green at this site with all the traffic going within a few metres of the proposed green.
6. Consideration should be given to the number of houses already planned for North Bexhill and Ninfield, which we contend would result in all existing roads in the immediate vicinity being hugely congested, particularly the B2204 running from Ninfield to Battle and other centres of employment.
7. The plan does not address provisions needed for the increase in places at the already full village school. No mention is made of increased medical facilities etc.
