Development and Site Allocations (DaSA) Local Plan - Options and Preferred Options

Representation ID: 22192

Received: 17/02/2017

Respondent: Ms Christine Banwell

Representation Summary:

I do not agree, there are safety issues regarding the vehicular and pedestrian access to the proposed site.
Play areas and orchards need proper supervision to be safe for all to use.
Current problems with drainage and flooding to my own and neighbouring properties will be exacerbated despite the promise of sustainable urban drainage systems.
The woodland and hedgerow here is home to protected species (bats, voles) and should not be disturbed.

No, I do not agree. The proposed vehicular access is on a dangerous blind bend, even if drivers stick to the speed limit. Trucks heading through the village at speed also pose a threat to pedestrians, there is no grass verge on that stretch of road as a buffer . Pedestrian access onto School Lane- there is no pavement at the top of this lane. An unsupervised 'play' area and an old orchard are not a good mix and may present a safety hazard. Expecting people to supervise someone else's children is unrealistic . Drainage is already a significant problem, some properties in Farleys Way (including mine) continue to experience flooding from the run off from adjacent land to the proposed development. The proposal, being outside the planning boundaries when I purchased my home, also impacts on my reasonable expectation of no disturbance. This is a very quiet corner and as such is home to bats, owls, water voles and slow worms. This proposal would cause them great disturbance.
