Development and Site Allocations (DaSA) Local Plan - Options and Preferred Options

Representation ID: 21945

Received: 18/12/2016

Respondent: Mrs June Cox-Smith

Representation Summary:

I believe that the current housing balance should be maintained and no further social housing should be considered for the village. This is a very visible village for anyone travelling along the A259 and impinges on areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and SSSI which hold benefit for all.

I do not believe that there should be any more development at Icklesham. There is very little in the way of local services. There is no village shop and very little local employment. There is an imbalance of social housing in this village and we should not become a ghetto for the unemployed and unemployable. There are plenty of council houses here and the proportion to owner occupied properties is high. In addition we have elderly supported housing, The village is currently in the thrall of being bullied by a vociferous local councillor who is insisting on more affordable housing and does not want to acknowledge any opposition.
