Representation ID: 28358

Received: 23/07/2024

Respondent: East Field Fairlight Action Group (EFFAG)

Representation Summary:

Objection to HELAA site FAI0001 Land east of
Waites Lane, Fairlight Cove

Reasons below are in addition to drainage matters, including leaking sewers, failed pipelines, with a system that constantly overflows.

1. Site is within the High Weald AONB and falls outside of the development boundary.
2. Loss of agricultural land.
3. Lack of local services.
4 GP services are limited.
5. Lack of public transport.
6. Lack of local employment.
7. Access to the site is difficult.
8. Loss of existing amenity of adjoining properties.
9. Will introduce street lighting into an area presently free of such light pollution.
10. Pedestrian safety.
11. Very narrow existing road network.
12. Impact on ecology.
13. Impact on archaeology - evidence of flint tools from field suggesting human activity in prehistoric times.

Rother Local Plan 2020-2040 (Regulation 18)

61. What are your views on the potential sites identified in the draft HELAA that could accommodate more growth in Hastings Fringes and surrounding settlements?

Representation ID: 28359

Received: 24/07/2024

Respondent: East Field Fairlight Action Group (EFFAG)

Representation Summary:

A neighbour friend who was on the Fairlight
Parish Council until recently, remembers being informed recently that the then MP for
Hastings & Rye Ms Sally Ann Hart was of the opinion that this site should NOT be developed because there was plenty of spare land available elsewhere in the vicinity suitable for provision of 30 to 50 houses to be developed and should be investigated before such a decision is made. I remember also being informed the same information by Rother District Councillor Mr Andrew Mier also of Fairlight and again wish this to be investigated. Of course now the Labour Party may have differing ideas for this site, it changes the position I hope not.

I trust this is true and hope something positive comes out of it.

I sent a letter to you on the 20th July 2024 giving my views on this within the time scale
allowed. Since then I have received the following information that although after the cut off
date for comments it is so important I think it should still be taken into account in your
decision whether to hold another vote again for development of this site or not, I hope not.

The information is as follows, a neighbour friend who was on the Fairlight
