Respondent: Salehurst & Robertsbridge Parish Council
There should be a high standard for industrial and commercial buildings as well as for housing. Indeed because of the space they occupy, it is just as important, especially in light of the recent IPPC report.

It would be helpful to refine the Affordable Housing policy, if there were an additional breakdown within the Rother category to assess the problems of affordability better, e.g. Bexhill versus rural or perhaps between the three CIL designated areas in Rother.

Criterion (iv) is to be welcomed but experience elsewhere (see AiRS' work on this subject) would suggest that 'modest' may not be sufficient to get development off the ground in certain cases. AiRS spoke of examples of 70% market and 30% affordable. (Rother District Cllr Joy Hughes attended the Battle presentation by AiRS in October).

We are surprised there are no specific as opposed to general suggestions of criteria in this policy. It should be more definitive.

It is difficult to see in the current market for self-build why the floor proposed here should not be 50 rather than 20. As a variant to a number of dwellings used, might it not be better to use a proportion of square meterage of Self- build to the whole of the square meterage of the site?
