QUESTION 88: Do you agree with the preferred site for development at Westfield? If not, which site should be preferred?

Representation ID: 22117

Received: 27/01/2017

Respondent: Westfield Parish Council

Representation Summary:

Westfield Parish Council have resolved to give its full support to the preferred sites for development in Westfield.

Full text:

Westfield Parish Council have resolved to give its full support to the preferred sites for development in Westfield. In particular, the now defunct former care home at Moorhurst. This was suggested by the Parish Council as a suitable, now cleared site, for development as sheltered/warden assisted accommodation for our senior parishioners, who we feel are currently not well served.
The PC hope that if these developments succeed consideration can be given to a much needed "pelican" crossing adjacent to the school, and the adoption of the road along Chapel Lane which runs parallel to three of our five shops.
N.B. Some of the facts provided in 'Context' are inaccurate. The population is approx 2,600, and there are 5 shops.

QUESTION 90: Do you agree with the requirements of Policy WES2? If not, how would you wish to see it amended?

Representation ID: 22118

Received: 27/01/2017

Respondent: Westfield Parish Council

Representation Summary:

Westfield Parish Council are in favour of this site over others previously suggested. The development of this site will involve specific highways considerations, but would have less of an impact on our local school and the parking problems associated with it.

Full text:

Together with the land at Westfield Down and Goulds Drive the Parish Council see Moorhurst as a far better option than other suggested sites. Moreover development of the Moorhurst site would have little impact on our local school and therefore not contribute to the parking chaos at beginning and end of the school day. Development at the Moorhurst site would involve specific highways considerations regarding traffic calming measures, in addition to those already specified for The Down development. This would be a very welcome addition to address fast flowing traffic on the A28 through Westfield. Likewise, the strengthening/widening of footways would also be a most welcome improvement.
