Draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) - 2015

2.4

Representation ID: 21858

Received: 22/09/2015

Respondent: Rother and Hastings CPRE

Representation Summary:

There are no hard proposals as to how RDC will seek 'engagement with all sections of the community'. Only in para 2.5 is there referenceto using different consultation processes that are balanced inter alia by the cautionary use of the phrase 'subject to available resources'. This concept them dominates the remainder of discussion about the engagement process. Please explain what restrictions you currently place on the CI process because of current lack of 'available resources'.

4.20

Representation ID: 21862

Received: 22/09/2015

Respondent: Rother and Hastings CPRE

Representation Summary:

It does not consider the possibilty of the greatest possible element of community involvement, ie the right of proponents and opponents of applications to address the Planning Committee. Parish Councils allow the public to speak, so it forms part of our democratic process at one level within Rother - why not at the decision-making level? For your information Why has this not even been considered?

Whilst RDC email copies of decision notices to Parish and Town Councils, no such courtesy is afforded to those individuals and organisations who have made representations on the application. Other councils do this; why not Rother?

Theres is no commitment to a specific date for a further review of the SCI. As it is now nine yeas since the current draft was published, it would be better to enshrine a formal date for review in say four or five years' time.
