Representation ID: 18573
Received: 29/01/2007
Respondent: Crowhurst Parish Council
The new concept of village action planning should assist to reduce uncertainties. A steady growth, etc., should be aimed for rather than "an early growth impetus" as outlined at 3.24 to avoid dangers of a "stop/go" scenario. To reply upon the link road providing the answer to growth problems may be misplaced - paragraph 3.22, which could lead to a setback if hopes are not realised.

Question 5 re. the most effective and appropriate means of increasing the income available to local people
Representation ID: 18576
Received: 29/01/2007
Respondent: Crowhurst Parish Council
All the matters outlined here can be addressed and moved forward if the area's isolation through poor main roads and inadequate rail services from London are addressed. We have to recognise that we can only do so much in isolation. The example of Brighton's development shows that fast road and rail links to London are essential. Major employers will not come to locate here otherwise.

Question 6 re. addressing poor connectivity with the wider region and London, localised congestion and high reliance on car use
Representation ID: 18577
Received: 29/01/2007

We should accept commuting by car as a fact and facilitate it.
The most important transport links are A21, A22, rail links between London and Ashford via Crowhurst, freight by rail.
Rat runs bother villages; the link road will not relieve congestion
More police traffic patrol officers needed but police investment in this control method is not expected
Cheap/free bus services, especially to villages
Hospitals, shops, PO, chemist, doctors
Battle car parking charges; need clarity on where the money is reinvested
Not known; opportunities for small businesses essential

Representation ID: 18579
Received: 29/01/2007

Yes, but they are in part confounded by the proposals to build the link road, the Queensway office development and the suggestion that 800 homes and a station be built at Upper Wilting. These proposals beg the question that only lip service is being paid to the principles of (ix) "respecting the importance of the countryside" or (xii) "protecting vulnerable countryside gaps between settlements
