Provision (and retention) of employment space is essential to the sustainability of rural areas; any potential net losses resulting from changes in permitted development rights need to be addressed. This modification recognises that.

There is a strong need in rural areas for affordable housing and for jobs. There is nothing we can do about new permitted development rights on existing business floorspace. At least the aim is to retain business space in rural areas where possible.

Without specific indication that businesses are to expand or develop in Robertsbridge or any other area for that matter, why is there an increased need for such business floor-space? No business interest at all in the area has been generated and therefore how have these figures been achieved? This is contrary to NPPF 17.
Insufficient public and community involvement in this regard and with other points raised, it will greatly affect the environment and the safeguards in place being stripped away by the draconian rationalisation of planning guidance as a result of these continuing changes.

This is contrary to NPPF 17 "plans should take account of market signals, such as land prices and housing affordability, and set out a clear strategy for allocating sufficient land which is suitable for development in their area, taking account of the needs of the residential and business communities".

We support this policy since the new legislation will remove employment space which is absolutely required if villages are to remain or even become sustainable. Without work in a village the village will die. As a sub text the new legislation permitting change of use needs changing for all villages locations.
