We also welcome the support for farming, farming diversification arid the local timber industries, and in particular the provision to include 'land-based workers' as key workers to assist in accessing affordable housing.

Representation Summary:

It is very important that preserving the pieces of open countryside mentioned, between Hastings and Bexhill, Crowhurst Battle and Fairlight, does not mean sacrificing land that may be appropriate for business or domestic premises. This would inhibit business growth and the 'sustainable economic growth' that the district is looking to secure.

It is considered that Box 18(c) - For Development in the Countryside, should be made more explicit to include the expansion of existing tourism facilities and accommodation where this can be achieved sympathetically with its surroundings. It is considered that the policy should aim to secure improvements to the provision of recreational facilities in the countryside, particularly where these form part of an existing tourism or existing recreational facility.

Representation Summary:

Old farm buildings could be used for light industry, rather than converting into unaffordable homes, thus helping preserve village life and food security. If we were to spend £100 a month more on food and £100 less a month on housing, we would all benefit.

Representation Summary:

I support conversion of buildings in the countryside to provide employment, if they don't exacerbate road use issues.

The LDF cannot emphasise too much the quality of our villages. I support particularly the aim of improving access for residents and visitors. There should be a greater emphasis on the upgrading and introduction of footpath and cycle/bridleway networks. The villages support a high number of people who work from home. The LDF can plan for technological support for such workers. I support conversion of buildings in the countryside to provide employment, if they don't exacerbate road use issues. Can the LDF provide support for the retention of shops and post offices as well as local food producers?

Page 79 para 9.63 Current tourism caravan developments are quite simply shocking and a blot on the landscape. Extensions must be resisted as well as permanent residence.
