The paragraph is supported.

Concentrating development in the Rural Service Centres (i.e. after the main towns)properly reflects National planning policies in respect of sustainable development and in particular Policy EC6.2 of PPS4.

The Rural Service Centres provide a wide range of services and facilities to the rural areas, including local employment opportunities.

Their role and internal sustainability should be strengthened by allocating modest additional housing and employment development to them, particularly in Robertsbridge.

As explained elsewhere in our representations it is considered that the housing target for the 'Villages' should be increased from 1,000 to 1,250 dwellings (Figure 8) in order to full develop the role of the Rural Service Centres.
