Core Strategy Consultation on Strategy Directions 2008

Representation ID: 20421

Received: 20/01/2009

Respondent: Mr. & Mrs. A. Winnings

Representation Summary:

Rye needs additional competitive supermarket shopping but this needs to be a small, contained area without parking spaces such as a Sainsbury local or Tesco Express. People of Rye only need to walk to this facility for more competitive food pricing. It would not bring in more cars to our busy town. Siting a small supermarket in the current proposed library site would end the unused site and could exist alongside our current independent shops and ensure their vital survival. Why not take advantage of former postern gate surgery for sale/rent to use a a library or information bureau.
