Rye Harbour has been included with Rye, for obvious reasons. Yet, Rye Harbour remains ---for now entirely irrelevant, historic reasons ---within the parish of Icklesham (the village of Icklesham being almost four miles distant). The inconsistency between the political locus of Rye Harbour, and its economic and development locus, is unhelpful. One consequence is that key statistics for Rye Harbour are not available for use in formulating strategies for the village, but distort the statistics for the other three villages in Icklesham parish. Rye Harbour should be brought within the boundaries of Rye, probably as a ward.
