Rye needs a large, new, central civic building to accommodate public meetings and exhibitions, cultural activities, and community events. The Community Hall and similar buildings are not attractive or entirely adequate, and none is a flagship for Rye. The location at the bottom of Conduit Hill would be ideal, as it close to the centre of the town and has a collection of civic properties, as well as the former doctors' surgery and the nearby monastery site, as well as parking close by.
