Broad strategic aims for rural areas does not voice the need for villages to play an important future role in providing for a part of the District's significant housing requirements. This is all the more relevant in the context of paragraph 9.1 which states that the District's villages and rural area accounts for 40% of the District's population. It is considered that Box 16 should include a further objective:
'To provide opportunities for new housing at appropriate village locations including private market housing and affordable housing'
