e ii Supermarket should be only within [not adjacent to] town centre. To put such a large supermarket on e.g. the Freda Gardam site would kill High Street retailers. Two examples of what would happen: Hythe and Plymouth town centre which I watched die almost immediately (mid 1990's) when a Tesco cum mall opened on the outskirts. In your job you will have encountered many more examples. Something like an 'Express' sueprmarket in the Woolworths building would be excellent-especially if it were open on a Sunday as this would be an extra incentive to come to Rye
