8. Rye and Rye Harbour

Representation ID: 20045

Received: 26/01/2009

Respondent: Playden Parish Council

Representation Summary:

RE: Playden
*There is overwhelming wish to protect the rural and historic character, and tranquility of the village. There is great concern that further ribbon, or in-fill housing, development is very carefully controlled.
*It is not felt to be acceptable for approval to be given to buildings of incongrous design.
*Potential for affordable housing recognised and a full survey needs to be conducted within Playden to assess the actual need for young people and the elderly.
*Residents feel strongly that Playden is not a suburb of Rye, so concerned about intent of item 8.29 on page 64. The term 'contiguous' is incorrect.

Received: 26/01/2009

Respondent: Playden Parish Council

Representation Summary:

It appears somewhat inconsistent that RDC have seen fit to appprove to spend large sums of money on Bexhill sea-front and its adjacent buildings with the apparent justfication of Regeneration and Tourism, when nothing is mentioned in Appendix 4 under the Bexhill panel.
