RDC should take a lead on encouraging the use of alternative energy facilities. In Robertsbridge we have a good example of this with ground source heat pumps heating at Robertsbridge Children's Services

REG in the main supports the overall aims set out here, but would wish to see a specific aim to support and encourage greater energy efficiency and local production of energy from sustainable sources. However each of the specific aims should be taken out and applied specifically to the need of especially the two villages identified as Rural Service Centres, Robertsbridge and Ticehurst.

Paragraph 9.42
We believe that specific encouragement should be given to the concept of 'farm shops' and other businesses which aim to sell what is produced locally.
Paragraph 9.44
Also believe that all community facilities should be encouraged to play a positive role within the community.

We support the main aims here but would wish emphasis to be placed on the rebalancing the local economy against out-commuting, which is not really dealt with at all.

We believe more resources need to be devoted to the support of tourism in general but green tourism in particular. Much greater emphasis needs to be placed for instance on working with the rail companies to improve the station facilities, facilitate specific tourist offers, ensure that offers can be produced to stimulate traffic for the rail companies and take up locally of tourism opportunities.

We endorse vigorously the support given for the extension of the Kent and East Sussex Railway. We also endorse the support given for encouragement for accommodation facilities within the area.

We believe that the strategy you advocate regarding rail infrastructure improvements is wrong, at least for those who depend upon the Hastings - Charing Cross line. As stated we do see advantages in ensuring that travel down that particular line is made as accessible and pleasant as possible.
