Box 11 - Preferred Strategy for Hastings Fringes
Representation ID: 19588
Received: 30/01/2009
Respondent: Crowhurst Parish Council
Reiterates the imporatance of maintaining strategic gap between Hastings/Crowhurst and Battle/Crowhurst which it feels is threatened by the proposed number of houses and employment facilities planned for its boundaries. This will have a severe effect on our roads already blighted by rat runners. It is also considered that the 500 houses planned for Battle will also likely erode that strategic gap.

Box 4 - Preferred Strategy for timing of Bexhill/Hastings Link Road
Representation ID: 19591
Received: 30/01/2009
Respondent: Crowhurst Parish Council
Parish Council would like to state that if the Link Road does not go ahead it would want to see a reduction in the number of houses planned for north Bexhill. Your statement that new houses would be "spread around the villages" causes great concern because our roads would not cope, there is no bus service and the post office and village shop have closed.

5. Overall spatial Development Strategy
Representation ID: 20156
Received: 01/01/2009
Respondent: Crowhurst Parish Council
The Preferred Policy Direction for the distribution of housing states '200-400 dwellings on the fringes of Hastings with Rother district'. We understand this to be bordering Crowhurst and we have concerns about this number on the boundary of the village, the impact on roads and the infrastructure.

Box 11 - Preferred Strategy for Hastings Fringes
Representation ID: 20157
Received: 01/01/2009
Respondent: Crowhurst Parish Council
Concerns about the maintaining of the strategic gap between Battle, Bexhill and Hastings & St Leonards and possible increased risk of flooding, which is already an issue in Crowhurst. Another concern is the reference to a new station and what would happen to Crowhurst station. There appears to be much reference to the Link Road -what happens if the Link Road does not go ahead?

6. Bexhill and Hastings Fringes
Representation ID: 20158
Received: 01/01/2009
Respondent: Crowhurst Parish Council
Hastings Fringes -The proposal to build 1 ,000 houses 'as well as significant employment' is in direct contrast to the Preferred Policy Direction of 'securing long term and effective countryside gaps between Hastings, Bexhill, Crowhurst, Battle and Fairlight. ' This size development will be larger than Crowhurst and right on our doorsteps!

Crowhurst Station must remain, there is no other public transport in the village and without it the village's survival would be in real danger.

Box 16 - Aim and Objectives for Rural Areas
Representation ID: 20160

Fail to see how 'to recognise the individual distinctiveness of villages' and 'to retain and enhance the rich cultural heritage of villages' is supported by the proposed 1,000 dwellings at Upper Wilting.

The Preferred Strategy for the Rural Area -(b) we would be interested to learn if Rother is considering contributing to a new Village Hall for Crowhurst, which is badly needed, when it states 'improving provision where necessary'?
Parish Council is naturally interested in benefits to our community, in particular any developer's contributions from housing development and monies arising from the proposed Hastings/Bexhill Link road. These would greatly assist the successful implementation of our Parish Plan.
