Question 1 re. the key issues for development and change up to 2026
Representation ID: 18969
Received: 22/02/2007
Respondent: Rother Valley Railway
We consider that all the railways in the District should be shown. The map already shows the railway east of Hastings which is not a main line. For all railways to be shown the KESR coming over the District boundary from Tenterden through Northiam to Bodiam should be added, also the planned Robertsbridge/Bodiam RVR link.

Question 3 re. the overall aims of the Core Strategy
Representation ID: 18970
Received: 22/02/2007
Respondent: Rother Valley Railway
The RVR linking Robertsbridge main line station with the KESR at Bodiam will contribute to this objective. People will be able to travel to Robertsbridge , Bodiam and Tenterden by train from anywhere on the UK rail network. This will result in a substantial decrease in the proportion of people visiting the Rother valley and the other attractions, including the National Trust at Bodiam, by car.

Question 6 re. addressing poor connectivity with the wider region and London, localised congestion and high reliance on car use
Representation ID: 18971
Received: 22/02/2007
Respondent: Rother Valley Railway
We consider that the RVR Robertsbridge/Bodiam link should be added to the list of potential transport schemes. The RVR would open up access to the Rother valley from anywhere on the UK national rail network without the need to travel by car.

Question 20 re. the vision and objectives for rural areas
Representation ID: 18972
Received: 22/02/2007
Respondent: Rother Valley Railway
The RVR will help to secure the following objectives for rural areas -(h). (I) and (n).
(h) the fostering of tourism that is compatible with and draws on the heritage and countryside qualities of rural areas
(I) improved access for basic day to day goods and services by public transport
(n) the encouragement of access to the countryside and appropriate leisure activities
The RVR has produced an Action Plan for 2007/8. This includes commissioning an independent, professional study of the impact of re-opening the Robertsbridge/ Bodiam rail link. This is a pre-requisite for a successful grant funding application.
