The method of calculating the cost of affordable housing should be included and up for debate.
Currently, as previously mentioned, there is a flaw in the calculation of the cost of the affordable housing which is linked to the average household income. With more commuters in the area, the average income is higher that what it would be for people working locally, therefore making even the affordable housing unaffordable for most people working locally i.e in shops, small companies. Affordable houses are only affordable the first time they are sold, the second time, they are at market rate.
