(b) For Services and Community Development - we support the proposals but would like to see a strengthening of the protection of business premises against conversion to residential. Without this the village designation as a 'service centre is at risk.

REG in the main supports the overall aims set out here, but would wish to see a specific aim to support and encourage greater energy efficiency and local production of energy from sustainable sources. However each of the specific aims should be taken out and applied specifically to the need of especially the two villages identified as Rural Service Centres, Robertsbridge and Ticehurst.

The broad thrust of this part of the emerging plan is supported. The question, though, is whether there is adequate provision within the plan to allow for development in rural areas that meets identified rural need, and therefore whether that should be recognised in principle within the Core Strategy, e.g. to allow for specific infrastructure developments.
