Rother Local Plan 2025-2042 – Development Strategy and Site Allocations

Representation ID: 28665

Received: 13/02/2026

Respondent: Mrs Laila Turner

Representation Summary:

I strongly object to the number of properties being proposed in north Bexhill. The loss of green space is devastating, the impact on wildlife immeasurable. Water provision? We've just had a 7 month long hosepipe ban lifted; what plans are there to ensure that the increasing population won't have a detrimental impact of further water supplies?
As I add my comments, I would just add that there are 814 properties for sale in Bexhill, with another 54 available to rent. With a falling birth rate, are we simply building for the sake of hitting targets? In 30 years time, there will be more houses than population. COVID reminded us all of the benefits of engaging more with nature, being outside in open spaces. It's best for our mental health and wellbeing. Squashing in copious properties as closely together as possible to maximise profits for the housebuilders won't achieve that.
