This is not in keeping with the new "Clarksons Law. Whilst historic agricultural buildings are an important feature in our landscape, they are generally inappropriate for current agricultural needs as modern machinery does not fit in and legislation on livestock keeping now makes them obsolete. If they cannot be converted for current agricultural use then sympathetic conversion should be a priority. Otherwise unused buildings fall into complete disrepair and are lost forever as there is no economic case for restoring and maintaining them. Priority should be given to agricultural ties to provide affordable housing within the rural communities for landbased workers whose wages are below the national average.
