Rother Local Plan 2020-2040 (Regulation 18)

Representation ID: 25764

Received: 22/07/2024

Respondent: Mr Ben Linker

Representation Summary:

I don't understand the full concept behind First Homes, however I note that a combined income of less than £80,000 seems to suggest that a single person is never likely to be earning in the income bracket these are designed for. I also don't see why first time buyers should be subsidised to that extent (especially if there are no restrictions on selling in the short term). Making all new houses available at an affordable price and with an appropriate mix of sizes (1/2/3 bedroom for instance) would be a fairer system and give a better incentive to developers to produce what is needed by the community (as opposed to purely what is needed to make the most profit)
