I am not sure if Build to Rent is different to Buy to Let, however the biggest challenge young people face in trying to find somewhere to rent is often due to landlords profiteering from the under-supply of properties and thus increasing rents to sometimes astronomical levels. Some sort of rent control is required if any targets to build rentable properties are to be meaningful to those in need. It is not sustainable to rely on market forces to bring rents down when any benefit from increasing the supply of housing will take many many years to have an effect, and the need is now.
