Building a clear plan to assist and aid the over 65s to move to more suitable insulated, automated, community based homes while freeing up the larger properties for conversion to multiple dwellings for younger families should take priority over and above any plans to use greenfield. Such a plan with clear incentives, using local labor for house conversions would be far greener than using greenfield for mass house development such as BAT0014 and BAT0026.

The claim that elderly people should be in one-bedroom homes is not borne out by my experience. Often, they are part of a couple and bedroom sharing gets harder as medical issues arise. Even single elderly people may have need of space for guests (so many families are far away from each other) or for an overnight carer on occasion (e.g. post-surgery) and putting them in a one-bed closes off these options.
