Rother states that there priority is to be Green to the Core yet they are only interested in building or either Green or farm land just because it's cheaper than redeveloping existing buildings, In particular planned BAT0014 is a beautiful area of farmland that is home to much wildlife and the council are considering building many homes. North Trade Road is unable to deal with the existing population, it's in a terrible state of disrepair. I do not agree with Live Well Locally - we no longer have a police station, cars and lorries constantly jam up the high street. The roads are not repaired, the zebra crossing in the high street is dangerous as the paint is so warn. The Graffitti gets worse. The cars speed up and down Marley Lane and North Trade Road and the High Street cares. There is still no crossing on Battle Hill.

A laudable vision that is entirely forgotten by the first paragraph of the "plan".
By "Green To The Core" you mean only to consider sites that are currently green and concrete over them. By "Live Well Locally" you mean take care of your own at home because the local health and education services will be overstretched without any strategy to fill the need.

the Rother proposals are the most unenvironmental plans I have ever seen. Not only is Rother Council focusing on developing greenfields Rother has not considered or built in a brownfield development. This will not only destroy the environment in Battle but add risk from flooding, landslides (already regular occurances in Battle). The most extreme damage in Battle will be BAT0014 creating a similar disaster to the Blackfriars site. The only gainers from this plan are the major developers.

Whilst I am happy that both new overarching Polices are considered, I am concerned that they are applied in an appropraite way - not necessarily 50/50 in any one location. I would presume that 'Live Well Locally' should be the priority aided by 'Green to the Core' in most cases.

"Green to the core" surely means protecting our areas of AONB and the habitat that it protects. This plan will certainly not do this . This site as stated so many times is AONB and therefore needs protecting . We need housing and this is not a case of Not in our Backyard its a case of Safety, Flooding , Noise & Light pollution of dark skies at night which our nocturnal animals rely on for feeding. People visit these areas because of the beauty soon there will be no green areas nor native species left . Villages should not be attempted to be made into towns. The empty highstreets which have suffered from online shopping should be converted to affordable living spaces for young people to get on the housing ladder.

With 'Green to the Core' being a major consideration, I feel it is important to retain high quality farmland given the wider government policies on local and national food production, especially if that is the scarce A grade agricultural land in the area. Healthy wellbeing declines in built up areas - so the usual strategy of strip planning along roads, but not expanding into fields behind, should be maintained. Only very small developments should be allowed on farmlands, not large commercial developments
