Rother Local Plan 2020-2040 (Regulation 18)

Representation ID: 25681

Received: 21/07/2024

Respondent: Miss sandra bandirali

Representation Summary:

The Old Town in Bexhill is not referred to in your report. The high street has one of the densest areas of grade 11 listed building. It is unique, and consideration needs to be given if these buildings are to continue to survive on the high street.
many of the buildings do not have foundations and are being subjected to a daily onslaught by vehicles using the road that are over the 7.5 tonne weight limit.
More vehicles are using this route possibly through satnav or local knowledge to avoid the traffic lights on the new link road. These buildings were not built to sustain this type of usage. A solution needs to be found to preserve this unique peace of history in Bexhill. The Old Town should be celebrated for its buildings and history and enjoyed by pedestrians using manor barn, St Peter’s church and barrack hall park.

Representation Summary:

Q203
It is not clear whether these are defined as heritage, but the submerged forest at Pett Level and the remains of the ship, the Anne, and, indeed, the wreck post, are all of historic value and maybe should receive a mention somewhere in the local plan.
