Proposed Submission Development and Site Allocations (DaSA) Local Plan

Representation ID: 24176

Received: 07/12/2018

Respondent: Mrs Kathleen Wootton

Legally compliant? No

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? No

Representation Summary:

I object because it is the wrong site, not supported by the village. Another site with village support is available. The parish council has not been consulted and the villagers have been ignored.

This is a greenfield site and against national policy. There is a brownfield site available of equivalent size just along the road (ID6). The access is on a peaceful, untouched field full of wildlife. The proposed access from Main Street is near a bend and goes through Elmsmead which is a small congested road where many residents have to park. This would cause a horrendous increase in traffic, noise and pollution for the existing residents, especially during construction. Afterwards, there would be oil tankers, delivery vans and probably an extra couple of dozen cars. I do not know of anyone in the village who is in favour of this plan - everyone I have spoken to is against it. Whilst the listed Conkers has been protected, no consideration has been given to the listed Rose Cottage. I understand that previous applications for this site have been refused - I do not see that anything has changed. The wishes of the people who actually live in Iden should be considered. No specific consultation has been taken with the parish council. These councillors are our elected representatives - what price democracy? This is not sound because it chooses a green field when a brown field site is available.
