Proposed Submission Development and Site Allocations (DaSA) Local Plan

Representation ID: 24111

Received: 05/12/2018

Respondent: Mrs Angela Kinzett

Representation Summary:

It seems that Sidley people have been left to their own devices The area had a rough time during the construction of the link road, the local MP at that time promising it would be showcased following construction. Nothing happened. What is there for youngsters to do? Often there are groups hanging around which makes it less inviting. A number of shops and businesses serve the area well but how do others survive? If it is one of the most deprived area in the district and I am aware that the Heart of Sidley has worked to improve the area, what more needs to be done? Who allowed so many takeaways to open? Why are shutters necessary? Shutters protect properties! Yet another reason for not siting the traveller and gypsy site so close to Sidley. Far better to work on a Sidley Plan, to improve the area, to cater for local children and to encourage people to take part.

Representation Summary:

Whilst we support policies aimed at ensuring a healthy balance of uses within centres in retail terms, we are concerned that what constitutes a "high proportion" or an "over-concentration" of hot food takeaways is not defined.

Whilst we support input from local residents as to the range of uses that they would like to see in their local centres, we are concerned that this is being conflated with issues of health and wellbeing for which there is little evidence.
