Unlike many other LPA's speaking at planning committee remains unavailable in Rother. The reasons for this should be made clear in the document.
The information contained on the 'Can I Speak at Planning Committee' page of the Council's website should be added for clarity and to ensure that the further written submissions timescales and lobbying information is clear.

Respondent: Rye Conservation Society
The Rye Conservation Society believes that interested parties, both for and against an application should be given the opportunity to give a brief (3 minute) presentation to the committee.
This is a basic democratic principle and Rother a one of the few remaining councils that do not allow it.
Presentations would be limited to 1 for and 1 against

Respondent: Hurst Green Parish Council
Parish Councillors feel that ALL members of the public should be allowed to speak at planning committee meetings to put their concerns forward and listen to opposing views. Obviously time limits would have to be set but RDC appears to be the only local council that does NOT LISTEN to residents views face to face!

There should be the right for interested parties to attend and speak (within rules) at council meetings dealing with planning applications. I understand that Rother is out of step with most other councils in the region in not allowing this.
