Representation Summary:

In Section 12 (Rural Areas) Figure 12 shows that Crowhurst has a Proposed New housing allocation of up to 15 units, and a total new Housing requirement 2011-2028 of up to 20 units

In the draft rural settlements study Part 2 (Village appraisals), the section dealing with Crowhurst indicates that the Parish Council have expressed a wish to provide more affordable housing, and the need for some extra units has been identified.

It is therefore suggested that the proposed housing allocation should be mixed in nature, that is some private, and some affordable (perhaps including shared ownership) to provide a suitable balance.

The SHLAA report similarly shows that the Parish Council have a preference for social Housing, and CR2 has been identified as a potential location for up to 15 housing units (this site is owned by my client) There seems to be a possible presumption against the provision of further private housing.

Crowhurst may be used as a commuter base by people working in Hastings. It has a lowish economic base and average unemployment. It has a mainline rail connection to London. One of the aims of the Core Strategy (Policy RA1) is to
ensure thriving and viable rural communities,
