Representation Summary:

Rother can build as many affordable houses as it likes, but without a strategy to ensure that they stay affordable, then it will be in this position again in 5 years. A house is only affordable the first time it is sold, then the next time it will be sold at market rate. Meaning a vast increase in cash for the seller at the expense of the next generation requiring such housing.

Representation Summary:

During the mill site planning application, there was a document from RDC to the developers explaining the cost of an affordable home (unfortunately this document is no longer on the planning application to be viewed), this stated that the cost was associated to the average income per household in the village. This is incorrect as with the recent influx of people working outside of the area, this pushes the average income higher. This should be based on what wages can be earned locally i.e within a 10-15 mile radius.
