We note the reference to enviro-industries We hope that the Task Force's concept of the Enviro-Business Corridor and business park at Queensway, St Leonards will act as a model for further business development along the corridor into Bexhill. It could therefore present an opportunity to promote the aims set out in Rother's strategy for sustainable resource management. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss how the Task Force's aspirations this aspect of the LDF can be harmonised.

We are concerned at the focus on educational facilities in Bexhill and the implication in the document that educational requirements in other parts of the district can be satisfied in Bexhill. Bexhill is too remote to service the needs of most rural areas, particularly given the lack of public transport and congested roads. We also oppose centralisation of services that generates more traffic on already congested roads.

Part (b) assumes that identifying land for new employment development is enough. There is a range of other factors that the strategy fails to take into account. These relate to the suitability of land in terms of location, accessibility, investment value, cost of development, character of the surrounding area and availability of competing sites elsewhere. The Strategy does not reflect the comments set out in paragraph 5.17 of the document.
