The housing requirements for the plan period for Bexhill accounts for approx. 55% of the total and in the case of Battle, being the second largest figures, at 7%. In both cases schemes rely on a major road being built, the link road to Bexhill looks very unlikely to be built due to the lack of government funding and the spine road at the Blackfriars scheme that is unlikely to be built due to engineering/cost reasons. Should both road schemes not proceed in the plan period, there will be a 63% shortfall in the stated housing need for the area.
